If you've been collecting anime figures for a while, you're probably familiar with this.
You see a figure, think “maybe later” and a year later it is sold out everywhere
And when you find it, it suddenly costs twice as much
Well, welcome to the world of rising figure prices
But why is this actually
Why do some figures increase so much in value
And can it really be worthwhile to collect figures specifically
I'll give you an honest overview here
No chatter, no sales pitch
Only what I have experienced myself
As a collector and as a shop owner who really loves this world
Why do figures increase in value
Most figures are only produced for a short time
Some even only once
When production is complete and the stock is gone, that's it
No reproduction, no reprint
If you arrive late, you're just unlucky
And that’s exactly when it happens:
Figures like old Nezuko statues or certain Rem versions suddenly become rare.
Collectors are fighting over it.
And because the anime continues to attract new fans years later, suddenly more and more people want this exact character.
The only problem is: there are hardly any left.
Demand is rising, but supply is almost zero. That's precisely why the price is skyrocketing.
Which characters have potential
There is no guarantee, but I see a few things again and again
- Figures of popular characters with strong fanbases
- High-quality scale figures from 1/7 from manufacturers such as eStream, Good Smile Company, Alter or Aniplex
- Limited Editions or Event Releases
- Figures from series that remain popular in the long term such as Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen One Piece or Chainsaw Man
My tip from experience
If you have the feeling at first glance “She will be wanted”
Then it is often exactly like this
Is it really worth it
If you're just looking for capital appreciation, there are probably better ways to invest your money
But if you are a passionate collector and build your shelf piece by piece, it is a nice bonus if your collection is actually worth something at some point.
I know people who deliberately order two figures.
One for display, one remains in its original packaging.
Not necessarily my style, but hey, it works
My conclusion as an otaku and shop owner
Collecting is worth it.
Not always immediately financially, but emotionally definitely
And yes, with a little feeling for the market, your collection can even become a small investment
If you pay attention to quality, timing, and strong characters, you're on the right track.
And when you look at your collection in a few years and think, “It’s a good thing I bought that back then.”
Then you know it was worth it.
If you want to know which figures are currently popular, take a look at our “Available to order” category.
There you'll find a large selection of figures currently available from the wholesaler. Many of them are true fan favorites and may be difficult to obtain later.
We'll keep you updated on what's new, even if the figures aren't (yet) in stock.
